do i replace both the v_sniperreferences, or do i just leave in one?

Hi there, I was wondering if you could make this into a .vpk so I could use it for L4D2 also? Since L4D2 now forces a "pure" file.

I have also had trouble getting this and most other mods to work... but could it be because I'm new to modding? The only ones that have worked for me so far are Doku's pulse rifle mod, the Remington 870 Wingmaster mod for the pump shotgun, and the gummy bear vitamins mod. EDIT: I now have also gotten the 1-UP medkit and Jack Daniel's molotov to work.

I finally have this mod for the hunting rifle where I see the proper texture on the gun AFTER I pick it up, but the lens still shows a purple-n-black checkered texture, as does the "pickup" model that's sitting on the tables, laying on the ground, etc. It also shows that "missing" texture when I look at another char equipped with the rifle.

:-( What am I doing wrong?

The game engine now uses a checksum-ing scheme to see if certain files are modified. When you install the files, you must remove the "H" from vsniperreferenceH.vtf and rename it to vsniperreferenc3.vtf or some other name but without altering the letter count. When using Notepad++, go to the same lines as in the instructions, and replace the last 'e' with a '3' and it'll work. Not just Hexalude's skin but any hunting rifle skin uses this fix.

Dude, seriously I tried every line, my skins for the pistols, auto shotty, m16 and uzi all worked the first time I entered it, had to do 1 manually because it didn't come with instructions, but this has NEVER worked for me, it either crashed my game, showed everything purple/black or did nothing.

For those who dont seem to have the time to play around with the codes...

Dont edit the "VSniperReference_ref" line. This can stop your game from running for some reason...

Anyway, its a great skin, shame that some parts appear pixeled out and such but its still a great skin to play with :D
