Edited and mixed in GoldWave by Lunarbunny
Sounds sourced from original Minigun spin-up sound from Left 4 Dead by Valve Corporation and Minigun sound sample from Soundsnap.com (http://www.soundsnap.com/node/81180)
Place minigun_fire.wav in
[...]\Steam\steamapps\common\left 4 dead\left4dead\sound\weapons\minigun\gunfire
You may want to rename or otherwise back up the original minigun_fire.wav. Alternatively to restore the original file, you may simply verify the game's integrity by right-clicking on Left 4 Dead in Steam, clicking Properties, then clicking Local Files and Verify integrity of game cache.
I simply wanted a more realistic minigun sound. The original just didn't sound right to me, so I found what I needed and mixed the samples.

Notes: I'm kicking myself for only having just noticed this! This is perfect, it sounds like a real minigun AND sounds really nice too.
Best L4D custom sound, its clear and sounds a bit like the real deal^^
Great job! but kinda like the voice when you "bbbbrrrrwww" your lips.
Pros: Well done! Very realistic. It reminds me good old days of Operation Flashpoint (also Armed Assault). Also it sounds clearly and atmospheric too.
Cons: None. Improvements: None. Notes: The best L4D minigun sound I ever heard.
Pros: Great job, you got the sound just right. Cons: The spinup sound sounds a bit out of place. Improvements: You could try to find a real spinup sound as well and make a new one.
It sounds like some one is doing a raspberry on their hands and it's making a fart noise...Good thing that's what an M134 mini-gun sounds like :D.
Thanks everybody who has downloaded this, and thank you even more if you have given me feedback!
@Chaosrain112 - yeah, I may go back to the sound and see if I can give it more oomph, maybe update it. Possibly a little equalization to boost the bass.
@-Hitler-- & Psycho Mantis - thanks!
This sounds great and fits the game well. It just lacks the OOMPH of the default and other renditions of Minigun sounds, but that's not exactly realistic like this is. Not that it matters. Great sound!
Yeah its hard to make any sound work well, good work.
Probably the best custom sound mod, iv seen so far...

First I was looking for sounds I could source myself that I could edit to sound right, but I quickly ran into problems. My only good mic seems to be bad now and I don't own explosives. I realized I just wanted a good minigun sound fast. I found a good sample at Soundsnap.com (http://www.soundsnap.com/node/81180) then took the minigun spin-up sound from the game and used it for a background mix. I then set both up to loop well and replaced the original file. Voila! Real minigun.
