L4D2 banned in australia

L4d2 banned in Australia due to high impact violence.

By scarecrow9421 4 years ago

L4D2 valves anticipated new zombie shooter is banned in Australia.

Some of the reasons l4d2 was banned are: The game contains violence that is high in impact and is therefore unsuitable for persons aged under 18 to play.

It notes that this violence is “inflicted upon ‘the Infected’ who are living humans infected with a rabies-like virus that causes them to act violently”.

The report singles out the use of melee weapons as those that “inflict the most damage” and cause “copious amounts of blood spray and splatter, decapitations and limb dismemberment.. or even cause intestines to spill from the wounds”.

As you can see l4d2 is alot more violent then the original l4d, yet there are games alot more violent and yet not banned like dead space, GTA or gears of war.

I read about this yesterday. Bl aussies, your censors suck for not having an R18 rating for games. Begin the mass importation of L4D2 copies from New Zealand :D

    News

I also made a news thread about it because I'm super cool.

The ban means that the game is refused classification, meaning no copies will be sold in Australia and Steam will have to remove it form the Australian store page, much like what they did with Manhunt.

To be honest, Michael Atkinson is jumping sharks at the moment. The entire "ban digital copies of games nao" is starting to come into play, if you're not used to censorship and communism, then the entire game scene is going to change for Australia.

The government believes that no one over 18 plays games, so every game has to be made for kids that aren't old enough to be playing the edited versions anyway, which is just obsurd and completely insulting. Basically, Australian gamers over 18 have no right to play games designed for them and have to suffer because some little shit wants every game not made for them.

It's not up to the government to decide waht I can play, it's up to my parents and parents of kids that was to play games. Devs should make their games and the government should pass them through inspection with a G, PG, M, MA or R rating and the parents decide whether the game is suitable for the child or not.

Banning the game all out is only delaying the inevitable. I can still import the game from NZ, the UK or anywhere PAL is used.

Everyone just watch as the censor trips over their own feet on this one, it will be unbanned as soon as they realise they have released much worse games at the same rating. It will be available everywhere and the world will be aligned once again.

I think that you will be able to buy them online very easily. If you buy it from the UK or NZ where PAL is used, then you will be able to get it.

Also, what if you buy the game externally? Go on Steam and get a friend from a non-banned country to get it for you. Better yet, just make another Steam Account and say it's from the United State.

I also think that Adrenaline shots will be another reason. They are replacing pills with "Adrenaline Shots", I remember that they almost banned Fallout 3, because of a Morphine drug reference, but it was renamed to Med-X. I am surprised this hasn't come up yet.

Here's a solution: Go all German TF2 on them and replace all the blood with rainbow sauce and happiness, then make the limbs and guts turn into fun TF2 gibs. That will solve it. They might as well change the guns into squirting pistols full of pepper spray and zombies into nice pedophile whom simply mistaken you for children and want to molest you. This way the game will be praised for Anti-Pedophilia and endorsed by Australia.

That all works in theory, except for the last idea.

Steam verifies your location via IP, using a proxy to purchase games gets you banned so there's not much point in making another account. And since L4D2 will install into your Steam account, you can't play online with it, and no Australian servers will be running.

None of this will be a problem in a couple of weeks, it will be edited or unbanned and everyone will move on.

What I really find funny is how at first people were bashing it and wanted it to be banned or not released. OH NO, A SEQUEL TO EARLY, GET RID OF IT. Now people are defending it.

dead space, GTA or gears of war.

You said that those games are not banned in Australia, however they are not as gory as L4D2, thats why L4D2 is being banned I think, because it is gory. Violence is not the problem in this case, gore is.
