This tutorial describes how to create a checkpoint door in Left 4 Dead, including the iron bar that keeps the door locked.
Hello, and welcome to my tutorial on how to create a checkpoint door in l4d. I know most of you already know how to do this, but I finally figured out how to create an exit door that has a working iron bar. Enjoy!

Step 1:
Create a test level or open one you have already made and find the door frame where you will be placing your checkpoint door.
Refer to screenshot A.
Step 2:
Create and place a propdoorrotating_checkpoint in the door frame.
Refer to screenshot B.
Step 3:
Go into the entity's properties(Alt + Enter) and input these settings:
Name checkpointexit World Model models/propsdoors/checkpointdoor-01.mdl Body 1

Step 4:
Place the door so that it fits within the door frame.
Refer to screenshot D.
Step 5:
Move the hook points(those purple balls on the door) to the location of the hinges. These hook points act as hinge points for the door.

You're basically done!
Additional Info:
If you already have a door and you just want to add the iron bar to it, then simply go into the door's properties and change the "Body" field to 1.
